Suite nº4. Do not disturb

An ironic and clever dance-theatre piece

When we look at the sky and are left in awe by the twinkling of the stars, admiring how the inexplicable cosmic chaos dances in harmony, and we speculate about the unknown — whether there is life in other galaxies, or how the universe can have no limits and still be expanding... we are like those retirees who, now that they have time, spend it watching a construction site in progress, a work in the midst of creation. And while they speculate about its final outcome, they observe and listen to the sound of entropy, and how, imperceptibly, everything transforms.

However, if there is extraterrestrial life... If there is someone out there who has taken the trouble to look in our direction, who has taken the time to contemplate our process of evolution... If there is a higher intelligence beyond that has dared to speculate about the meaning of our existence — our mission (what the heck are we doing here)... perhaps they are disturbed to see how much effort we invest in building what seems to be our own tomb.

This performance is part of the Dansa Metropolitana festival, held during the month of March in 12 municipalities of the Metropolitan Area. You can check out the full program of the festival at: www.dansametropolitana.cat

When we look up at the sky and are left in awe by the twinkling of the stars, admiring how the inexplicable cosmic chaos dances in harmony, and we speculate about the unknown — whether there is life in other galaxies, or how the universe can be boundless and still expanding… we are like retired individuals who delight in watching a work in progress, listening to the noise and enjoying the disorder, while speculating about its ultimate purpose.

However, if there is extraterrestrial life — if someone out there has taken the time to observe our process of evolution from afar — perhaps they too are carried away by the absurdity of how much effort we put into building what seems to be our very own tomb.
