We reclaim the figure of Remedios Varo and value her legacy

Remedios Varo was a surrealist painter noted for her ability to integrate science, magic and mysticism into imaginary worlds full of symbolism. Her work is important for its feminine and introspective vision with a unique, detailed and dreamlike aesthetic.

The playwright Eu Manzanares will conduct research on this Catalan painter based in Mexico to create a text that will culminate in a dramatized reading directed by Aina Tur.

The 365 Dones l’any cycle rescues from oblivion the figure of relevant women who have been invisible throughout History.

After four editions dedicated to Aurora Bertrana, Anna Maria Martínez Sagi, Marina Ginestà and Margarida Rugall, respectively, this year the visual artist Remedios Varo is the protagonist.

The dramatized reading, which takes place at the Born Center for Culture and Memory, kicks off the reverberations: the versions performed by around thirty amateur theater companies from all over the country. Thanks to their complicity, the text continues to travel and gives continuity to a project that grows year after year.
